			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was asked to comment on Cameron&#8217;s speech by The Daily Telegraph. </p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I said (it&#8217;s in tomorrow&#8217;s issue):</p>
<blockquote><p>Cameron was flaky and too generic at the start; annoying as a small, ambitious business like angelfysh wants relevant and dynamic ideas-driven leadership.</p>
<p>Slagging the opposition is so obvious too.</p>
<p>However as he went on I was surprised. He seemed quite in-touch.</p>
<p>I crave the ‘real change’ Cameron promises but I’m unsure I trust him.</p>
<p>Cameron also made Labour’s approaches feel dusty and clunky and no one will argue with the fact that so much of our country is broken both socially and economically.  I’m fed up with a government that supports the lazy and penalises the successful.</p>
<p>Cameron has promised us change at speed too which is important to me.</p>
<p>So who do I want? Brown’s ‘safe hands’ or Cameron’s radicalism. Cameron’s slicker, more entrepreneurial approaches are closer to my heart but I’ve always felt that Labour were more for me.</p>
<p>In 70 days I have to decide who’s for me in 2010.  Maybe it really is time for change? Maybe it is time for Cameron.</p></blockquote>

<p>It will help you with keyword research and how to choose the right keywords for your website.</p>

<p>Knowing which keywords to optimise your website for is probably the most important part of the <a href="http://www.angelfysh.com/"title="search engine optimisation"  >search engine optimisation</a> process.</p>
<p><strong>Choosing keywords</strong> you want to be found for is the first step. Fine tuning your keywords is an ongoing commitment too.</p>
<p>But the real strength in <strong>choosing the correct keywords</strong> is knowing how many searches are made each month in Google for your chosen keywords and search phrases.</p>
<p>An expert will help you with this. The data is out there.</p>
<p>It’s no good having your website optimised for a keyword or search term that is only searched for 6 or 7 times each month by users of Google. It’s your money you’re wasting.</p>
<p>Something else to consider is that a position one listing in Google for a specific keyword generates almost 50% of the total monthly search volume.</p>
<p>So if your website is number one in Google for the search term ‘widgets’ and ‘widgets’ is searched for 1,000,000 times each month, you could potentially generate 500,000 visitors.</p>
<p><strong>Being number one is great!</strong></p>
<p>And once a professional has helped you identify which <em>keywords</em> and <em>keyphrases</em> you should be optimised for, ask for a realistic timeframe for results.</p>

<p>It will help when deciding which internet marketing path to take and how to divide your budget.</p>

<p>Any <a href="http://www.angelfysh.com/tag/internet-marketing/"title="Internet Marketing"  >internet marketing</a> strategy may be a mix of Google Adwords, organic SEO and social media marketing (often called the <em>Internet Marketing Mix</em>).</p>
<p>Getting the balance right should be easy, but beware specialists that may encourage you to invest in their main area of expertise only.</p>
<p>Decide what to do with an expert that works across the internet marketing mix. And start by finding out where your targets ‘hang out’.</p>
<p>For example if you’re targeting young people, you need to know that the average Twitter user is 31 years old and only 8% of teens aged 12 to 17 use Twitter at all. Facebook however, is frequented by 71% of young adults under the age of 29 on a daily basis.</p>
<p>Knowing your customers it vital to knowing how to market your business on the internet.</p>
<p>Here are some fundamentals.</p>
<p><strong>Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)</strong> is good for building a solid, long term marketing foundation.</p>
<p>Positively, <a href="http://www.angelfysh.com/"title="SEO UK"  >SEO</a> is cumulatively effective, 70% of search engine users only click organic results (ignoring Adwords) and high organic rankings builds brand.</p>
<p>Negatively, SEO can take a while to kick-in, you can optimise for the wrong keywords without expert advice and investment is ongoing.</p>
<p><strong>Google Adwords</strong> is good for achieving highly targeted traffic quickly.</p>
<p>Positively, Adwords gets traffic quickly, it tests conversion quickly and you can time your campaign to match (say) a related TV event.</p>
<p>Negatively, Adwords campaigns are expensive to manage (use an expert!), only 30% of users click the sponsored adverts and using <a href="http://www.angelfysh.com/tag/google-adwords/"title="Google Adwords"  >Google Adwords</a> won’t help you to rank higher in the organic listings.</p>
<p><strong>Social media marketing</strong> is great for communicating with customers and building brand. We’re talking blogging, <a href="http://www.angelfysh.com/tag/facebook-advertising/"title="Facebook Advertising"  >Facebook advertising</a>, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and more.</p>
<p>Positively, social media marketing is great because search engines love frequently updated content, they drive targeted traffic and they’re relatively cheaper to setup and maintain.</p>
<p>Negatively, social media marketing is time intensive, return on investment is delayed in favour of brand building and most users are chatting and sharing photos rather than looking to buy.</p>
<p>In summary, use an expert on an ongoing basis.</p>

<p>We&#8217;re going for the 5000m team swim (1000m each) &#8211; which is 20 lengths each if it’s a 50 metre pool or (you&#8217;ve guessed it) 40 lengths (blimey) if it&#8217;s a 25 metre pool!</p>
<p>We each need to complete our 1000 metres before the other team member can do their swim.</p>
